Welcome me back… :-)
I have just moved into my new apartment, condominium actually, I love it! This is a big step from the studio I lived in for the past 2 years. Some of the highlights that I love so far are.
Two beds (one bedroom is my so called office) and three baths, upstairs downstairs located in a quiet community. I finally got my big screen TV, 42in. 1080P LCD, thank god I held out Best Buy prices where pretty high; I got mine at Costco’s at a great price. I also ordered a 25ft VGA cable from monoprice.com (great prices there) so that I could use the 42 as a monitor; let me tell you it’s F’N incredible. If you have the setup then I encourage you to try out Netflix WatchNow. Ok that’s enough about my move… for right now.

Well here’s something new I want to try, I’m calling it “Tool Tip Tuesdayâ€, it’s a new format I would like to introduce. Basically I plan to list Tools, Applications, FireFox Plug ins, and etc that I find helpful when programming, or applying SEO tactics or just getting around the internet.
If you have some suggestions or recommendation please feel free to participate and send your tips in also.

For the July 10th First “Tool Tip Tuesday†my list includes:

  • Tamper Data - Use to view HTTP/HTTPS headers, I use this all the time along with Live HTTP Headers these are great tools to view your sites headers and the data that is being transferred.
  • Search Status - This FireFox addon is packed with all kinds of useful tools, Google PageRank, Alexa Rank and more.
  • Domaintools.com - This site is incredible you can get very detail information about sites, servers, hosting and more. I recommend getting one of the Firefox Search Extension, I use the Whois Engine every single day, seriously I do.
  • Godaddy.com - You know I’m crazy about registering domain names. The FireFox Engine is another life saver. When at work and wanting to do a quick domain look up this works out great. If you go to Godaddy.com you’ll notice the option to download the FireFox extension.
  • Google Sitemaps Validator – Really this is self explanatory. I think it important to validate your Google Sitemap.

Well that’s it the first “Tool Tip Tuesdayâ€.
If you have some helpful sites or tools you use please email me.

If you are constantly working on your website, looking to expand your rankings, you’ll need new sources of keyword ideas. One of the best of this is pretty obvious, but invaluable. If you look at what people are already entering to get to to your website, you’ll find plenty of ancillary terms that will be easy to rank for.

Finally, Django 0.95 has been released (digg it here). Some of the new features and changes are:

  • Django now uses a more consistent and natural filtering interface for retrieving objects from the database.
  • User-defined models, functions and constants now appear in the module namespace they were defined in. (Previously everything was magically transferred to the django.models.* namespace.)
  • Some optional applications, such as the FlatPage, Sites and Redirects apps, have been decoupled and moved into django.contrib. If you don’t want to use these applications, you no longer have to install their database tables.
  • Django now has support for managing database transactions.
  • We’ve added the ability to write custom authentication and authorization backends for authenticating users against alternate systems, such as LDAP.
  • We’ve made it easier to add custom table-level functions to models, through a new “Manager” API.
  • It’s now possible to use Django without a database.
  • It’s now more explicit and natural to override save() and delete() methods on models, rather than needing to hook into the pre_save() and post_save() method hooks.
  • Individual pieces of the framework now can be configured without requiring the setting of an environment variable. This permits use of, for example, the Django templating system inside other applications.
  • More and more parts of the framework have been internationalized, as we’ve expanded internationalization (i18n) support. The Django codebase, including code and templates, has now been translated, at least in part, into 31 languages. From Arabic to Chinese to Hungarian to Welsh, it is now possible to use Django’s admin site in your native language.

While Ajax deals with asynchronously loading XML, Ajah is simpler: It loads additional HTML after the page is already shown to the user.

Ajah is also the term for societies among the Aes Sedai in Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time.

A new search engine marketing study performed by JuniperResearch and iProspect suggests that most internet marketers see a higher ROI from organic search engine optimization than from pay-per-click advertising.

The study focused on firms that outsource their organic SEO and at the same time purchase PPC advertising, and discovered that 35% of these firms had a better average return from SEO, as opposed to 11% from PPC.

The study also found that more than half of marketers who fit into the above sample don’t have a clear method of determining which channel (SEO or PPC) gives them a better ROI. Although most firms do track the combined results of all search engine traffic, many fail to distinguish between the two distinct channels.
